About Merchant Profit Auditor and how to use it

Merchant Profit Auditor - Privacy policy

Effective date: October 10, 2026. Applies to version 0.2.2.

The developer is the publisher identified on this extension's Chrome Web Store listing. Contact the publisher through the support contact shown on that listing. This extension reconciles merchant orders and payment records and estimates profit from merchant-supplied costs.

Information processed

When you choose a CSV or backup file, the extension reads that file on your device. CSV previews can display all supplied columns, including personal information if your file contains it. The saved audit uses mapped order references, dates, amounts, currency, tax, refunds, payment status, SKU and quantities, product costs, payment fees, transaction identifiers and payout references. The saved audit does not include unmapped CSV columns. Raw CSV rows and previews are discarded when you close the import dialog. Import only the fields you need and avoid including customer personal information.

Optional direct Shopify access uses your original myshopify.com store domain and Admin API access token. It reads store name, currency, app scopes, payment-account availability, order identifiers and dates, line-item SKUs and quantities, financial totals and refunds, payment fees, net amounts and payout status. The direct queries do not request customer names, email addresses, postal addresses or payment-card details. Store identity and sync coverage are saved with audit data.

Purpose and network access

Data is used only to validate the store connection, retrieve the records you request, reconcile amounts, calculate estimates, display results and create exports or backups you choose. Local CSV auditing makes no network requests. Optional Shopify connection sends your token in an HTTPS API request only to the store domain you approve. Shopify processes those requests under its own terms and privacy practices. External documentation links open only when you click them and are subject to the destination's practices.

The extension has no developer server, telemetry, analytics, advertising or third-party tracking. The developer does not receive, sell, rent, share for advertising, or use your audit data or credentials for creditworthiness or lending decisions. Your data is not used for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose. There is no developer or other human access to your data through the extension.

Storage and retention

Audit records, rules and order overrides are saved in this extension's local browser storage until you clear the workspace or remove the extension. They are not stored in Chrome sync. Credentials are kept in Chrome session storage. This extension's trusted pages can access them there. Credentials are cleared when the browser session ends, you disconnect or the extension detects an expired token. Closing just the audit tab does not end the browser session. Unsubmitted token text remains in the form until cleared or the tab closes. Exported reports and downloaded backups contain financial information but no API token.

Your controls

Direct Shopify access is optional. Chrome requests permission for the specific store before connection. Use Disconnect to clear the active token and remove that store permission. Revoking the token in Shopify prevents further authorized API access. Use Cost & fee rules > Clear local data to delete saved audit records, assumptions and overrides. This action does not disconnect an active Shopify session. Disconnect separately or remove the extension to end access. Delete exported files and backups separately from your device. Previously granted store permissions can also be revoked through Chrome's extension site-access controls.

Security and limits

Shopify API requests use HTTPS, do not attach browser cookies and do not follow redirects. The extension performs read queries and requests no store write scopes. The extension does not encrypt local audit data. Anyone with access to your unlocked browser profile or downloaded files may be able to read it. Profit is an estimate based on available records and your inputs, not accounting certification or a bank verification.

Changes

Future releases will update this policy when data handling changes. Material changes will be disclosed in the extension and store listing before new handling takes effect.
